Intern (ICT)

About this role

IOM is seeking an ICT Intern to support the implementation of ICT requirements in accordance with IOM standards in Sri Lanka. The intern will work under the supervision of the Head of Resource Management and the Senior ICT Executive, gaining practical experience across technical support, system maintenance, network management, software development, and data management. This role is part of IOM's Internship Programme targeting recent graduates or final-year undergraduate students.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues while adhering to organizational ICT policies.
• Support end-user applications, install and configure IT equipment, and onboard new employees by setting up accounts and devices.
• Monitor system reliability and security, manage backups and disaster recovery plans, and perform routine maintenance of computers and printers.
• Diagnose connectivity issues, install network equipment, run cables, label devices, and coordinate with service providers under supervision.
• Participate in requirement gathering, code reviews, application testing, automation scripting, and training staff on data visualization tools.
• Organize databases, migrate data to cloud storage, and coordinate with teams for data preparation.
• Prepare reports, manage documentation files, monitor emails/tickets, maintain IT assets inventory, and order replacement equipment.

Qualifications

• Recently graduated (within the last one year) or final year undergraduate of a university degree program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
